AGM 2015 speech: Charlotte Kube
Thanks for letting us play to you all today. Winning the Newsboys Foundation Regional Music Award has been one of the best things that has happened to me. During my week I spent quite a bit of time at the Australian National Academy of Music, attending recitals, observing string classes and having lessons with the head of strings and cello, Howard Penny. I observed Orchestra Victoria rehearsals for the Sleeping Beauty ballet, and was privileged to be able to watch the dress rehearsal for the ballet. I also went to multiple concerts at the Melbourne Recital Centre, and made a visit to Alex Grant Violins, where I got to see his workshop and get a full makeover of my cello. The Newsboys Foundation also very generously bought me a beautiful new bow, which has really enhanced my sound production.
The whole week was an incredible experience for me, and I’m so grateful for it.
Today Sarah and I are going to play a piece called Fragile, originally written by Sting. This arrangement has been put together by the famous Croatian duo, 2Cellos.
