12 NEWSBOYS FOUNDATION ANNUAL REPORT 2017 GRANTS COMMUNITY LIVING & RESPITE SERVICES Club Teen Holiday Program and Club Teen Cooking Program The program encourages children to live life to the full. The Community Living & Respite Services’ after-school care includes holiday programs for young people with disabilities. The programs in Echuca, Lockington, Rochester, Cohuna and Kyabram areas, engage young people in a range of fun and educational activities including a cooking program. clrs.org.au COURTHOUSE YOUTH ARTS Youth Outreach Project Courthouse Youth Arts is working with Somebody’s Daughter Theatre Company and Newcomb Secondary College to reach out to 25 young people aged 11-18 years in Geelong who are at risk of leaving school. Supported by Newsboys, the students are enrolled at Newcomb Secondary College and attend numeracy, literacy and performing arts classes at Courthouse Youth Arts in Geelong. Courthouse Youth Arts manages the project and provides the venue, Newcomb Secondary College provides two teachers and Somebody’s Daughter Theatre Company oversees the project and directs the creative work with young people. The students are involved in performing Anchoring the Wind … Because I Matter with young people from Wodonga who are involved with Highwater Theatre Company. courthouse.org.au CROXTON SPECIAL SCHOOL VCAL Orientation Camp Newsboys support helped students with disabilities to attend a VCAL camp at Lady Northcote YMCA in February/March 2017. The camp was an integral part of bringing together 25 VCAL students at the start of the school year in preparation for their final year of secondary school. Newsboys provided an overall subsidy for the camp that helped ensure that students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds had the opportunity to attend the camp. croxton.vic.edu.au “We enjoyed many fun activities with each other.
