John Warner has been on the board of the Newsboys Foundation since November 1980. He has been a member of the Newsboys Foundation audit committee since May 2009 and has been chair of the Newsboys Foundation’s Investment Committee since its inception in 2009.
John holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University and has over 50 years’ experience in stockbroking, including a stint working in London. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
John joined the stockbroking firm Eric J Morgan & Co as an analyst in 1961 and was accepted as a Partner just three years later.
He was elected to the Committee of the Stock Exchange of Melbourne in 1975, and subsequently was one of six Melbourne representatives on the first Melbourne/Sydney Committee. He served from 1975 to his retirement in 1985. He was a member and Chairman of the Listing Sub-Committee and later rotating Chairman of the Joint Listing Sub-Committee.
John has made an enormous contribution to building the Newsboys Foundation’s share portfolio. It has been through John’s investment advice that the Foundation has been able to continue to grow its funding and distribute grants to community organisations.
