David Coombes

Director

David Coombes has been a director of Newsboys Foundation since June 2010 and has been a director of the Newsboys Foundation Trust, which receives donations on behalf of the Foundation, since May 2013.

David was admitted to legal practice in 1971 and has practised law as a principal and partner in a legal firm until his retirement as a partner at Gadens Lawyers on the 31st of March 2024. He has specialised in taxation law, trusts, corporate law and superannuation.

While growing up, he was a newspaper delivery boy, delivering the morning papers to South Yarra and Toorak.

David joined Newsboys to help the Foundation assist young people to further their education, stabilise their lives and provide opportunities to develop their careers.

David’s qualifications include: LLB (Bachelor of Law, University of Melbourne), M Tax (Masters of Taxation Law, University of Melbourne) and CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser).

David has advised several charitable foundations including in their establishment and in obtaining taxation exemption and endorsement for deductible gift recipient status. He is a contributing author on several books relating to taxation law and trusts.
