Director
Rupert Sherwood joined the Newsboys Foundation board in June 2022. He is Director of Development at Melbourne Theatre Company and a board member at Melbourne Fringe, where he is Chair of the Fundraising Committee.
Before joining the board, Rupert was aware of Newsboys Foundation’s work for several years.
Rupert said: “The work the Newsboys Foundation does in ensuring the success of projects that help engage and motivate young people in their pursuits, and that develop a sense of belonging and community, is not just inspirational but vital.
“I have been inspired from working with the Newsboys Foundation through my roles with various other organisations, and I was excited to be a part of the important work the Foundation does.”
In his role as Newsboys Foundation Director, Rupert brings a strong knowledge of the arts sector stretching over more than two decades, proven fundraising skills and exemplary strategic and analytical skills.
Rupert holds a Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne; Bachelor of Commerce – Marketing & Management from Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo; and a Post-graduate Diploma in Arts Management from the University of Melbourne.
